Syndication breaks down costs into two parts: the acquisition of the horse and then the ongoing annual maintenance and competition expenses, the amount of the latter will be reflected in the level of competition. All funds can be directed to Ardastra and Corinne through the American Horse Trials Foundation (AHF). Fortunately, the IRS tax code has specific provisions regarding tax-deductible contributions for 501(c)(3) foundations, such as AHF, which is solely focused on supporting upper-level eventing. This enables the syndicate owners to deduct all ongoing training and competition expenses. All maintenance funds will be held by the AHTF and used to offset expenses accrued while competing and training.
